Modify a Chart Template

A step-by-step guide to editing GEMS Charting Templates

Updated over 9 months ago

Introduction

After Charting Tool Edit Users create Templates with the GEMS Charting tool, those Templates may need to be updated. The Manage Templates tile on the Charting Hub allows Charting Tool Edit Users to make those kinds of changes to any chart Template in GEMS.

Modify a Template

1. Navigate to the Charting Hub.

2. Click Manage Templates.

3. Locate and click the name of Template you wish to modify.

4. Click Launch Chart. A chart drawn from the entity in the Chart Business Entity field and using the Saved Search in the Saved Search field will be generated with the selected Template applied.

Please note: If you'd like to modify the Template using a chart drawn from a different Business Entity or with a different Saved Search, return to the Manage Templates page. Click the Actions icon next to the chart name, then select Edit. The Chart Business Entity and Saved Search fields can then be changed for the purposes of launching and modifying that Template.

5. Modify the Sub-Charts, Rules, Filters, Box Formatting, and Line Formatting of the Template as desired.

6. Click the Save icon, then select Save if you wish to overwrite the previous version of this Template, or select Save As to create a new Template.

7. If desired, update the Template's name in the Name field.

8. Tick the System Default Template box if this Template should be applied by default when users create charts.

9. Click Save to either overwrite the previous version of the Template or to create a new Template depending on your selection in Step 6.
