Find Names in GEMS

A guide to finding all instances of a name across your entire database using the Name Search tool

Introduction

The Name Search allows you to enter a name or part of a name and then search for every occurrence of that name across all name type fields in GEMS, including historical name fields and names for entities and user accounts.

It searches across the following fields:

  • Business Entity/Company Legal Name

  • Business Entity/Company Short Name

  • Business Entity/Company Other Name

  • Business Entity/Company Past Name

  • Business Entity/Company Doing Business As (DBA)/Trade Names

  • Business Entity/Company Foreign Registrations/Qualifications – Assumed Name

  • Person Name (First Name, Second Name, Third Name, Fourth Name, Last Name, Other Name)

  • Person Past Name

  • Non-Affiliate Name

  • Non-Affiliate Past Name

  • Non-Affiliate Other Name

  • User – First Name, Last Name

  • User – User Name

Search for a Name

The Name Search tool is accessed through the Search Hub.

1. Click the Search Hub button to open the Search bar.

2. Select Name in the Search GEMS for dropdown.

3. In the Value field, enter either the name or part of the name you wish to search for. Click Search.

4. The search results are opened in a new Homepage Tab called Name Search, which displays the Screens and fields containing the searched name.

5. Click on any of the Screen Name hyperlinks (for example, Business Entity Basics) to open that Screen in a pop-up panel.

Alternatively, click on any of the Related Entity links to open that entity's Snapshot in a new Homepage Tab.
