When viewing a chart, you can customize its appearance by selecting between three different chart Layouts. Different Layouts might fit your chart structure better and make your data clearer and more legible.
Look at the following charts in the images below, all of which are Subsidiary charts for the same company SM Products and Analysis, to see examples of the three different Layouts.
MERGED LINES LAYOUT
Merges multiple lines leading to each box, giving your chart a clean look. This is the default Layout for newly created charts.
INDIVIDUAL LINES LAYOUT
Separates each line leading to each box. Allows you to see precise relationships between boxes at a glance, but increases the number of lines on a chart, making it look busier.
MATRIX LAYOUT
Arranges the boxes of subsidiary entities so that if there are more than six boxes on one level, they are vertically stacked. Prevents charts from stretching too far horizontally, potentially improving readability but sacrificing the tiered structure of the first two Layouts.
