The Find a… tiles located on the default Home Hub enable you to perform basic searches for Business Entities (Companies), Person entities, Reports, and Documents. Throughout this module, we will focus on searching for a Business Entity, though the actions we discuss can be applied to the other Find a… tiles, as well.
Business Entities are also called Companies in GEMS, and buttons like the Find a Business Entity tile can appear as Find a Company.
Locate and open a specific Business Entity record
The Find a Business Entity tile on the Home Hub is the quickest way to locate a Business Entity record in GEMS.
In this scenario, we will find and open the record for a Business Entity called CL Support Inc.
1. From the Home Hub, select Find a Business Entity.
2. Enter a Business Entity name in the search bar and click the Search button. In this example, we will enter support.
3. A list of companies with names matching what you entered will appear. Click the name of an entity to open its Snapshot. In this example, we will select CL Support Inc.
4. The entity Snapshot will open in a new temporary tab within GEMS.
View all Business Entities
You can use the Find a Business Entity tile on the Home Hub to perform an empty search, which returns all Business Entity records. This may be useful for new GEMS users who wish to explore available data.
1. From the Home Hub, select Find a Business Entity.
2. Leave the search bar empty and click the Search button.
3. A list of all Business Entities in your database will appear. Click the name of an entity to open its Snapshot. In this example, we will select AM Global.
4. The entity Snapshot will open in a new temporary tab within GEMS.
