GEMS Basics - Getting Started

Session Objective

The purpose of this session is to guide you through the process of searching, filtering and exporting data in GEMS.


By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Search for an entity.

  • Filter a search.

  • Search for specific data within an entity from any screen or panel.

  • Export data from the Snapshot.

  • Export data from a panel.

  • Export an Organizational Chart.

  • View and export dashboard data.


Task 1 - Search for an Entity.

Search for the Business Entity/Company CORE, Inc.

Question: There are two ways to do this, which was easier?


Task 2 - Filter a search.

Run an open Business Entity search (leave the search field blank).

Filter all companies by the Jurisdiction Colorado.

Question: How many entities are there on the database?

Question: How many entities have the Jurisdiction Colorado?


Task 3 - Open the CORE, Inc Snapshot and find some answers to the following questions:

Question: What is the state file number?

Question: Who retired in May 2025

Question: What was the company name in May 2023

Question: How many Directors have been appointed to CORE, Inc (Past and Present)

Question: How many Parents does the Business Entity have?

Question: Do those Parents all have voting rights?

Question: What share transactions have happened in the last year?

Question: How many other directorships doe Lauren Abernathy have?


Task 4 - Export an excel spreadsheet of all CORE, Inc's current appointments.


Task 5 - Export the audit trail for CORE, Inc.


Task 6 - Export an organizational chart for the company CORE, Inc.


Task 7 - Export a list of all companies in Canada using the Dashboard.
