Introduction
When multi-factor authentication (MFA) is active, a GEMS Administrator can temporarily override the MFA requirement for a user attempting to log in on that user's User Details page.
Bypass MFA
In this scenario, a user with the username JaneSmith has attempted to log in to a GEMS database that uses SMS-based MFA, but JaneSmith's phone is currently unable to receive SMS messages. As an Administrator, we have verified that the user is authentic, so we need to allow her to bypass the one-time passcode requirement.
1. From the Hub Toolbar, click Admin, then select GEMS Administration> User Management.
2. Locate and select the appropriate user. In this scenario, we will select JaneSmith.
3. The User Details page of the selected user opens. Click ALLOW MFA BYPASS.
4. Tick the Allow MFA Bypass checkbox, then select Submit.
Please note: Overriding the MFA requirement for a user only bypasses the MFA requirement once and it only lasts for 60 minutes. The next time the user attempts to log in, the MFA requirement is re-enabled, though it can then be bypassed by an Administrator again.
