A User Role in GEMS determines both the data a user can access, and the actions they can perform.
If a user's permissions need to be expanded or restricted, you will need to update their User Role Membership.
In this scenario, James Wright has taken on a new role as a GEMS Admin, so his User Role Membership needs to be updated with an Admin Role to support his new responsibilities.
1. Navigate to the User Search screen. Locate or search for your user and select their USER NAME. In this example, we will select [email protected].
2. The user’s Basics Screen displays. Locate and select User Role Membership.
3. The User Role Membership Search - All screen displays. Review the assigned roles under User Role. In this example, James' User Role is set to the default User and we want to add Admin.
4. Click Change User Membership to update the User Role.
5. The User Role Search Results display all roles available for your organization.
Under Description, select the role you would like to assign to your user. In this example, we will select Admin to reflect James’ new responsibilities.
The User Role Membership Search – All screen displays your updates under User Role. In this example, an Admin User Role has been added for James.
