For users who log in manually, GEMS provides a self-service Forgot Password option on the log-in page. If the user cannot complete this process, for example, if the reset email is not received, admins can reset the password to restore access.
Before resetting a password, confirm:
The user requires access based on current responsibilities.
The Forgot Password option has been attempted.
In this scenario, Amy Attestor of Brightwell Corporation did not receive the password reset email and is unable to complete the Forgot Password process. Since Amy requires access, we will reset her password.
1. The User Search screen appears displaying a list of all enabled users. Locate or search for your user and select their USER NAME. In this example, we will select AmyAttestor.
2. The user’s Basics Screen displays. Locate and select User Password.
3. The User Password Screen displays. Click EDIT.
4. Enter the new password in the New Password and Confirm New Password fields. In this example, we will enter a temporary password for Amy.
5. Click SAVE.
Notify the user their password has been reset
Once the password has been updated, notify the user and provide them with the temporary password entered into GEMS.
