To effectively review system activity, you need to focus on the right data. Filtering the Audit Trail allows you to narrow results, identify relevant activity quickly, and answer questions efficiently.

In this scenario, Jane Davis reports she can no longer access the Admin Hub. Jane noted she was able to access it last week. We will use the Audit Trail to explain when Jane’s access changed.

1. From the Home Hub, click the Admin Hub and select GEMS Settings > Audit Trail.

2. The Audit Search screen appears displaying system activity for the current date. Click Advanced Search to define a timeframe to be searched.

3. Locate the section: Criteria – Choose the criteria to be used in this search. Edit the criteria to match the timeframe you want to review. In this example, we know Jane had access to the Admin Hub last week, so we will select Last 7 Days.

4. Click SEARCH.

5. The Audit Search displays system activity within the selected timeframe. Click the DETAILS drop-down, enter a search term in the FILTER field, then click the Search icon. In this example, we want to search for any activity associated with Jane Davis, so we will enter her username JaneDavis.

6. The Audit Search now displays system activity related to Jane Davis for the last 7 days.

In this scenario, a colleague needs to understand when a Registered Agent office address was added to Brightwell Corporation in GEMS. We will use the Audit Trail to identify when the update occurred.

1. Navigate to the Audit Search screen, then click Advanced Search to define a timeframe and limit the results displayed.

2. Locate the section: Criteria – Choose the criteria to be used in this search. Edit the criteria to match the timeframe being investigated. In this example, we will select Last 180 Days.

3. Click SEARCH.

4. The Audit Search displays the system activity within the selected timeframe. Click the ENTITY drop-down, enter the entity name in the FILTER field, and click the Search icon. In this example, we will enter Brightwell.

5. The Audit Search displays system activity related to the identified entity within the specified timeframe. Click the DETAILS drop-down and enter a search term to locate the type of activity you are searching for. In this example, we will enter address.

6. The Audit Search displays the results of your filter for you to investigate.
