Change the Layout of a Chart's Lines
When viewing a chart, to change the layout of the chart's lines, do the following:
Click the Layout icon on the chart toolbar to open the Layout panel.
In the Layout panel, select one of three layouts:
Merged Lines – Merges relational lines on the chart when possible (e.g., when two or more subsidiaries have the same parent, one forked line is used)
Individual Lines – Each Entity’s relationship receives its own line (e.g. when two or more subsidiaries have the same parent, a distinct line is drawn between each subsidiary and the parent)
Matrix – Draws individual lines, but also stacks horizontal rows of more than six boxes, also provides several style options for customizing charts.
Please note: If using Sub Charting within a chart, each sub-chart may have its own unique layout applied to it.
Matrix Styles
As mentioned above, when selecting the Matrix layout, several matrix styles are available.
Below are examples of the Matrix Styles available and how they will present when choosing the Matrix layout.
Balanced (Default) Draws individual lines, but also stacks horizontal rows of more than six entity boxes |
| Left Aligned – Starts left side and all subsidiaries pushed right |
|
Leaves – 1 on each side of the line |
| Right Aligned – Starts right side and all subsidiaries pushed left |
|
Squares – creates a square-shaped cluster of entities e.g. 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, etc. |
| Custom – complete control of boxes on each side e.g. 2 on Left, 1 on Right |

Compact View
For all layouts available, i.e., Merges Lines, Individual Lines, and Matrix, tick the Compact checkbox to stack all horizontal rows of boxes.
Reset Chart
To restore the positions of any boxes that had been moved while in Edit Mode, click the Reset Chart button. Otherwise, click the Close icon to close the Layout panel.
Number of Decimal Places
The number of decimal places on a chart can be easily managed via the “Number of Decimal Places” feature in the Layout Hub. Decimal places can be added or removed from a chart via a drop-down menu.
Please note: Decimal places settings will apply to the Main Chart and all Sub Charts.
Box Spacing
Spacing between entities may also be adjusted via the Layout Hub, both Horizontal and Vertical Spacing may be individually adjusted.
Please note: Spacing refers to the number of pixels between boxes.
Please note: Unique spacing settings may be applied to the Main Chart and all sub-charts.
