How to Locate, Purge, and Restore User Activity Logs

Audit Trail Introduction

The Audit Trail is a detailed chronological record that tracks the activities of Users in the system. The audit trail is crucial for accountability, security and compliance. It can be accessed by Users with an Admin User Role.

To find the Audit Trail click on the Admin hub > GEMs Settings > Audit Trail

Purge the Audit Trail

To purge the Audit Trail click on the Admin hub > GEMs Settings > Purge/Restore Audit Trail

Purging an audit trail involves deleting or removing historical audit records from the system. This process can be sensitive as audit trails can be critical to security and compliance.

However purging maybe necessary for data retention policies, storage management or compliance with data protection policies.

In the Menu select the subheading Purge Audit Trail.

To purge records, select the search criteria to filter the records you would like to purge.

Once filtered, above the search results is a Purge Audit Trail dropdown with a Go button next to it. Click the Go Button.

Restore an Audit Trail

To restore the Audit Trail click on the Admin hub > GEMs Settings > Purge/Restore Audit Trail

Select Restore Audit Trail from the Menu.

To restore records, select the search criteria to filter the records you would like to restore.

Once filtered, above the search results is a Restore Audit Trail dropdown with a Go button next to it. Click the Go Button.

Restore an Audit Trail from File

To restore the Audit Trail click on the Admin hub > GEMs Settings > Purge/Restore Audit Trail

Select Restore From File from the Menu.

A pop up window will appear. Next to the field Restore Audit File select the Browse button. Select the file. Click Restore.
